Rosemberg Law Obtains $2M Judgment Against Trademark Counterfeiter

Rosemberg Law recently obtained a $2,000,000 default judgment in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, on behalf of its client, an international eyewear designer and manufacturer. The Firm’s client sued an eyewear retail store in Miami, Florida that was selling eyewear bearing counterfeits of the client’s federally registered trademarks.  After failing to respond to the Complaint, the Court granted the client’s motion for default judgment enjoining the defendant from using the client’s trademarks and awarding statutory damages under 15 U.S.C. § 1117(c) in the amount of $2,000,000 (based on an award of $200,000 per counterfeit mark per type of counterfeit good infringed).
